Stumptown Steam Threshers 61st show set for Sept. 9

CADIZ — The Stumptown Steam Threshers Club will hold its 61st annual reunion on Sept. 9-10 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.

The club is a nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve, display and demonstrate antique and historical farm equipment.

The event will showcase antique steam engines and tractors, running sawmills, threshing machines, balers, shingle mills and other antique equipment.

This year’s event will celebrate 100 years of Farmall equipment, a model name and later a brand name for tractors manufactured by International Harvester since 1923.

The club posted on its Facebook page, “Also new this year we are excited to show off a belt-driven wood planer.”

The event will also feature food including sandwiches, snacks desserts, open kettle-cooked beans and cornbread as well as a flea market.

The grand parade will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and a slow engine race will take place immediately after the parade. A kiddie pedal pull will start at 3 p.m., and trophies will be awarded following the pedal pull. A garden tractor pull will start at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, the activities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a church service. Tractor contests will start at 1 p.m., the Stumptown Ladies Auxiliary will host a raffle drawing at 2:30 p.m. and a kiddie coin hunt will start at 3 p.m.

The Stumptown Ladies Auxiliary will be selling club T-shirts and crafts, along with raffle tickets.

The club is selling new merchandise this year including stitched logo hats and beverage koozies. Both items can be purchased at the secretary’s booth while supplies last.

Show admission is $5 per day per adult. Children under age 12 are admitted free with an adult. Club memberships are available for $8 per person. A commemorative badge is included with each membership, and memberships are valid for admission to both days of the show.

Camping will be available for a fee which includes two memberships for the duration of the show.

Exhibitors receive free admission and primitive camping. Plaques will be awarded to all exhibitors.

The fairgrounds are located at 550 Grant St., Cadiz.
